Man Utd player ratings vs Fulham: 8/10 pivotal in dramatic victory

Michael Carrick's impressive winning streak as Manchester United manager continued in a thrilling match at Old Trafford against Fulham. The former United star has now triumphed in all three of his opening matches at the helm of the 20-time champions, propelling them into the Champions League qualification spots.

United didn't get off to a flying start, with Fulham appearing the more likely team to score first. However, the tide turned midway through the first half when Matheus Cunha believed he'd earned a penalty after being brought down by Jorge Cuenca. A VAR review determined that the incident should be awarded as a free-kick instead, which Bruno Fernandes expertly delivered for Casemiro to head home.

The second half mirrored the first, with Fulham applying early pressure but United finding the net. This time, Casemiro turned provider for Cunha, who blasted the ball home from a tight angle.

The game took a turn when Raul Jimenez scored from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit, before a spectacular long-range strike from Kevin levelled the score at 2-2.

But this is a new-look United, and where in the past heads might have dropped, the hosts dug deep to create another opportunity. It came from a lung-busting run by Bruno Fernandes, who set up substitute Benjamin Sesko to swivel on the spot and score the winning goal.

Here, the Daily Star Sport provides player ratings from United's match against Fulham.

Senne Lammens - 7 The Belgian was called into action a few times in each half and made some sharp saves that could've given Fulham a way back into the game. He's not perfect, but his signing has been a significant upgrade on what United previously had in goal.

Diogo Dalot - 6 A solid performance from the Portuguese international with no major errors. He seemed to eliminate most of the careless mistakes that frustrated the Old Trafford crowd in the recent Manchester Derby.

Harry Maguire - 7 Steady Eddie at the back. Unlucky to concede the penalty. He complements Lisandro Martinez well, who also brings out the best in the England international.

Lisandro Martinez - 7 It's no surprise that United have appeared much more defensively solid since the Argentine returned from injury. He reads the game exceptionally well and looks comfortable in a traditional back four system.

Luke Shaw - 7 Could it be that the left-back has quietly become a dependable figure for United? Despite his history of injuries, the English player has managed to feature in every Premier League match this season - a feat that would have been unimaginable just a couple of seasons ago.

Casemiro - 8 Is he really ready to depart? The defensive midfielder has been near his best since Carrick joined the club. A goal and an assist from the seasoned player certainly kicked off his United farewell tour on a high note.

Kobbie Mainoo - 7 A reminder that occasionally, the average fan might know more than a Premier League manager. The young Englishman's talent was evident, and it's a shame he didn't start a single Premier League match this season under Ruben Amorim.

Amad - 7 He challenged his fullback at times but lacked the necessary composure in the final third to make a significant impact. However, he did contribute significantly from a defensive standpoint.

Bruno Fernandes - 7 It seemed like a subpar performance was on the cards, but his relentless spirit created the opportunity for Sesko to net the winning goal.

Matheus Cunha - 7 Continued his good form from last weekend's match against Arsenal with another impressive finish. His instinctive style is a real asset for United, who struggled with scoring last season.

Bryan Mbeumo - 6 The performance wasn't as impressive as in recent weeks, with the Cameroonian international kept at bay by Fulham's defence. However, he worked tirelessly and has clearly embraced Carrick's philosophy.

Substitutes:

Benjamin Sesko - 7 Almost found the back of the net with his first touch, but his header hit the post. Kept his cool when United needed it most, scoring a brilliant counterattack goal after Fulham levelled the score.

Manuel Ugarte - 5 Not quite on par with what Casemiro brings to the table, despite the Brazilian being nine years his senior.

Noussair Mazraoui - 5 Could have reacted quicker to Kevin's equaliser, but is just getting back into the swing of things following his return from AFCON.
